How much does it cost?
The rate for professional training is US$50 per hour, per person. This applies to both in-person and online training. Group rates are available.

What webconferencing software do I need?
We use an industry leading webconferencing application, GoToMeeting. It is free for you to connect to our GoToMeeting session.

How do I connect to the meeting?
When you sign up, we will send you the meeting's web address, ID number and password. A half hour before the session, you should connect to the meeting to test it. If necessary, the software will download and install on your computer automatically.

How do I get 3ds Max or Maya?
You will need to have 3ds Max or Maya installed and working at least a day before the workshop begins. If you want to buy a commercial license, check the Autodesk website for a reseller in your area. If you are a student or teacher in the USA, you are eligible for free software at students.autodesk.com. Educational licenses are only about $100 to $200 per year through JourneyEd.

What about free versions of 3ds Max or Maya?
The full retail versions of 3ds Max and Maya are currently available in a 30-day trial. Students and teachers in the USA can download free 12-month licenses at students.autodesk.com.

How do I access scene files and lesson notes?
We will send you details on where to download support materials such as scene files and PDF handouts. We can also share files in real time during the workshop.

What speed should my Internet connection be?
High-speed broadband Internet access is required. You'll need a DSL, cable, or better connection.

Do I need a microphone?
A microphone is very helpful, so you can ask questions in your own voice. However, you can also use a telephone, so a microphone is not required. However, if you do use a phone, then long distance charges may apply.

Should I use a headset?
If you have a headset that includes a microphone and headphones, then please use it. Using a microphone and speakers might result in an echo due to feedback.

What type of computer do I need?
For 3D graphics, youll need a fairly recent computer, less than three years old. You should have at least one gigabyte of RAM installed.

What operating systems are supported?
3ds Max runs on Windows only. You can run Maya and GoToMeeting on either Windows or Mac OS X. The instructor will be using Windows XP.

What type of graphics card do I need for Maya?
For Maya, you should have a professional graphics card such as NVIDIA Quadro. Certain features of Maya won't work properly with consumer hardware such as GeForce cards. To check the Autodesk website for hardware compatibility, do a search for Maya Qualified Hardware.

What type of graphics card do I need for 3ds Max?
3ds Max is much more forgiving than Maya, and it will run on just about any graphics card. You will get better performance in the 3ds Max interface if you use professional hardware such as a Quadro card.
